Growing up in Donegal, Ireland, Derek first discovered his love and talent for woodworking while learning from a local carpenter before attending college.  His passion for the craft continued to grow throughout college and the years that followed. After moving to America and finishing graduate school, Derek rediscovered his passion for creating things from wood.  Starting in his garage with a table saw from craigslist, Walker & Wood was quickly born as many people discovered Derek’s talent. Now based out of a workshop in the heart of Nashville, Derek and his growing team spend each day bringing home design dreams to life. Derek’s strengths lie in his relentless work ethic, meticulous attention to detail, and his ability to make a friend anywhere. 

 

Derek lives in Spring Hill, Tennessee with his wife Caitlin and son Henry.  In his free time, he loves to learn about bourbon and cheer on Arsenal Football Club.
